The public areas of the Kruger National Park, are best experienced either by one of our escorted Kruger National Park Safaris tour from Johannesburg, or via a Safari self drive tour.

A Set departure means that these  Kruger National Park Safaris tours are a escorted tour, led by a experienced guide, and leaves on a certain day, and has a set trip length. It also has a set cost rate.

These tours generally stay outside the Kruger National Park gates, and you spend the day on game drives in the park, returning generally later afternoon back to your hotel.

The tour has a local licensed guide who is familiar with the Kruger National Park, and this turn will make your experience more enjoyable, educational, and relaxing.

These Kruger National Park Escorted Safaris packages, generally includes the scenic Panaroma route, and may stop at some Cultural Villages along the way.

These tours usually will depart with a minimum of 2 persons..maximum numbers on these tours vary.

The Panorama Route is best known for its cultural heritage and its dramatic landscapes.

Offering a vast array of exciting options for the visitor, the Panorama Route hosts some of the best adrenalin enhancing adventures in the country as well as some more placid pastimes.

One of the major highlights of the region is the Blyde River Canyon, home to spectacular wildlife, birdlife and plant-life and some of the best views in the country.

The Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon of its kind in the world.

Other highlights include :

  1. The exquisite waterfalls in Graskop and Sabie,
  2. The Echo Caves that speak of Africa’s powerful tribes such as the Pedi, Mapulane and the Swazi,
  3. Trails left behind by the Voortrekkers in regions such as Lydenburg and Ohrigstad,
  4. The ancient artistic footprints left by the indigenous peoples of Africa
  5. The Gold Rush territory, Pilgrim’s Rest, which was home to the early gold prospectors.

Apart from its scenic beauty The Panorama Route also offers a wide spectrum of outdoor activities ranging from bungee jumping, white water rafting, hot air ballooning and hiking trails as well as gold panning.

For the less adventurous, enjoy bird watching, game viewing, trout fishing, mountain biking or simply marvel at the splendors of the region.

The Panorama Route is one of the most beautiful and popular travel destinations in South Africa. It leads through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg. Here, in the north-eastern part of the Great Escarpment, the inland plateau declines abruptly and steeply and opens up fantastic views of the plains of the Lowveld a thousand metres below.

This view is most reliable in the dry winter months. At other times the spectacle is often impaired, since the escarpment is a barrier for the clouds coming from the east, rising at this point and bringing a lot of rain.

The most spectacular stretch is the Blyde River Canyon which can be reached from Graskop

Just a few kilometres north a small loop road leads to “God’s Window”, from where you will enjoy a wonderful view on the Lowveld. The Canyon starts at “Bourke’s Luck Potholes” and ends at the “Three Rondavels”.

From many well-positioned vantage points one has a view of the 33 km long gorge.

The Potholes are very impressive rock formations that were shaped millions of years ago by erosion. The bizarre swirl holes developed when the once rapid river carried masses of sand and debris.

About Kruger National Park

The countryside throughout the Kruger Park varies and we have typical bushveld in the southern regions which gives way to grasslands towards the central and northern areas.

There are six major rivers flowing throughout the year in addition to dams and water holes. The climate is subtropical and the wet season extends from October until May with much of the rainfall occurring as thunder storms of short duration.

Game viewing is possible at any time of the year and each season has a unique attraction although perhaps springtime with the arrival of the baby impalas, the blossoms on the trees and wild flowers is the most memorable.

There are nine entrance gates which lead to a network of roads covering different areas of the Park.

The fourteen main rest camps (similar to resorts) provide comfortable en suite accommodation, restaurants, shops, petrol stations and telephones.

Kruger is one of the great natural sanctuaries of the world and is home to an impressive number of species including 147 mammals, 507 birds, 114 reptiles, 34 amphibians, 49 fish and 336 trees.
