South Luangwa National Park
The Luangwa Valley lies at the tail end of the Great African Rift Valley system.The great rift valley extends about 4,000 km from the Red Sea down to the Pungwe River mouth in Mozambique. It is a great wildlife sanctuary The park is 9,050-sq km centered around the Luangwa River.
Best time to travel:
High season season is May to October.
While May to August it’s still cool and dry,September and October are very hot with the humidity building up.These are the best months to spot the game as they gather close to the river and watering holes.
January to April is the rainy (or “green”) season with many lodges closed during this period.
The rainy season is the best time to go birdwatching while March to June is the best time to spot the elusive African wild dog.
